No matter how great your veterinary practice is at providing quality veterinary care for the pets in your area, you’re likely to miss out on a corner of the market if you don’t consider price. Today, we tell you why, as well as offer a great example of a veterinary promotion from one of our hospital clients.
If you aren’t a retail business, why should you consider offering discounts, specials, or promotions? For two very compelling reasons. First, by offering an incentive, such as a deal on a veterinary service, new customer appointment, or pet product in an industry that typically does not offer discounts, you make your hospital that much more attractive to a potential veterinary client. People are more likely to give your service a try, if they have less to lose. Take a look at most any veterinary hospital’s customer reviews online, and you’ll see that most often, the number one complaint customers have is about price. Second, everyone likes to save money. Whether your potential veterinary client is rich or poor, they like to think that they are making a smart decision by getting something for less.
One of our favorite practices, Animal Medical Hospital of Belair Road, has a great example of the kind of promotion you could be offering at your hospital to get and retain more clients:
To save Baltimore, MD pet owners money, time, and trouble; Animal Medical Hospital of Belair Road is offering a double-up pet product promotion: buy two of select pet products and save 20% off the second product. (To find out which pet products are eligible, please call to inquire).
As a result of this incentive, existing Baltimore veterinary clients are likely to spend more to save on pet products, and potential Baltimore veterinary clients are more likely to book their first appointment at Animal Medical Hospital of Belair Road to save on pet products.
